Today, builders primarily rely on lumber products for traditional construction.  The quality of this lumber has declined.  A typical 2,500 square foot home requires over 2.5 acre or 117 trees necessary to produce all the lumber products in its construction and it takes 30 years to renew that growth.  Scientists and environmentalists have determined that the unregulated cutting of old growth timber is a long-tern unsound practice for the ecosystem.
